Kieran Michaels, Vice President
Kieran joined Actuarial Careers, Inc.® in 2016 as Associate Director of Research. Due to his extensive knowledge of our database, tracking mechanisms, as well as having excellent communication skills, Kieran easily transitioned to his recruiter role and is specializing in the placement of Property and Casualty actuaries. Kieran graduated from the SUNY New Paltz School of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business, later completing his MBA in 2019, and is fluent in Spanish.
Jennifer Retford, Senior Vice President
Jennifer Retford joined Actuarial Careers in January of 2018 as a Vice President and brought with her over 10 years of experience as a recruiter for the Actuarial profession. She has placed actuaries of all levels across every actuarial discipline including Property and Casualty, Health, Life, Retirement and Investment, as well as CAT Modelers, Predictive Modelers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, etc. Prior to her career as an actuarial recruiter, Jennifer was part-owner of a retail chain where she implemented and maintained an electronic POS system. She graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and spent the early part of her career in a technical sales related role. Prior to beginning her career in business, Jennifer worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon, Africa, teaching Algebra and Geometry. She is fluent in French.
Lindsey Nelson, Vice President
Lindsey joined Actuarial Careers, Inc.(r) in 2020 as a Vice President. She has a successful track-record of nearly 20 years of experience in helping actuaries and other analytics professionals find new and exciting career opportunities at all levels of experience, up through C-Suite. She has worked with all major disciplines including: property and casualty, life, annuities, health, pension, and more non-traditional areas such as predictive analytics, catastrophe modeling, economic capital modeling, risk management and investments. Her clients have included virtually all companies/institutions that employ actuaries, including primary insurers, reinsurers, consulting firms, brokerages, rating agencies, bureaus and state insurance departments. She has long-standing relationships with Chief Actuaries, Human Resources professionals and other actuarial/analytics hiring managers at the above-mentioned employers. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Columbia college.
Emil Chacko, Vice President
Emil Chacko joined Actuarial Careers, Inc. ® in 2016. Prior to joining Actuarial Careers, Emil worked as an Actuarial Assistant for a mutual life insurance company in Connecticut, where he worked on pricing and product development of traditional life and annuity products, including whole life, term, guaranteed death benefit, and single premium immediate annuities. He has also spent time as an investment analyst working in risk management for one of the largest insurers in the nation, which helped to give him an insider’s view on what it takes to succeed as an Actuary. With excellent communication skills, as Emil transitioned to his recruiter role with Actuarial Careers, Inc.®, he brings the unique perspective to our team and to the clients and candidates we represent of having worked as an actuary. This gives him a distinct advantage in helping to place candidates across the full spectrum of actuarial disciplines. Emil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematical Sciences from Binghamton University. He has passed four of the preliminary SOA exams, and will shortly sit for the remaining exams to complete his ASA designation.
Jennifer Hart, Executive Vice President
Jennifer joined Actuarial Careers, Inc ® in early 2006. Since joining the company, she has been placing actuaries at all levels, from entry level to senior FSAs, on a worldwide basis. Her successes earned a promotion to Assistant Vice President in 2009. Prior to joining Actuarial Careers, Jennifer worked as Assistant Director of Human Resources and Marketing for a national awards and promotions company headquartered in New York. In the course of developing her recruiting practice, she acquired numerous invaluable skills, such as constructing the perfect resume and negotiating offers, which has helped her become an extremely successful actuarial recruiter. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology from The State University College at Oneonta. While at Oneonta, she entered into a concurrent, dual degree program in cooperation with the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fashion Merchandising Management.
Jill Grayson, Executive Vice President
Jill Grayson joined Actuarial Careers, Inc.® in 2009 with over six years of top level executive search experience which has included recruiting at the CEO, CFO, COO, SVP, VP, and Director level, for financial and technology companies throughout the world. At Actuarial Careers, Jill specializes in working with all levels of Property and Casualty actuaries, from Students to Chief Actuaries. Prior to working exclusively for insurance companies, she also has spent considerable time working for a retained search agency recruiting for early stage venture backed technology companies. Jill has earned a Bachelor of Science from the highly prestigious School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University and spent the early part of her career working in the hospitality industry.
Lauren Lee, Assistant Vice President
Lauren joined Actuarial Careers, Inc.® early in 2012. With her she brought tireless energy and a work ethic that would guarantee her success as an actuarial executive recruiter. Lauren has been placing actuaries within the Life, Health, and Investment disciplines, from the Pre-ASA level to the most senior FSAs. Lauren is detail oriented and has rapidly developed her skill sets as well as a clear understanding of the actuarial career path and how to assist both candidates and clients in meeting their objectives. Her warm and outgoing personality is fundamental to her business style. Prior to joining Actuarial Careers, Inc.®, Lauren was the Marketing Director for an international jewelry company, and was responsible for launching their brand in the United States. Lauren is a graduate of Pace University and holds a Bachelor of Arts.
Bonnie Ten-Pow, Vice President, Director – Administrative Services
Bonnie joined Actuarial Careers Inc.® in 2003 as Office Manager and head of our Research Department. Through her extreme dedication and tireless work ethic, she has become our Vice President, Director of Administrative Services and is directly responsible for overseeing the entire administrative operations of the company which encompasses our Research Department, Human Resources, Benefits Administration, and System Technology areas. She came to Actuarial Careers with a wealth of international experience having worked in Geneva, Switzerland, and Santiago, Chile for extended periods at a time. Additionally, she has a strong diplomatic background after having spent many years working for several United Nations affiliated agencies, both in New York as well as Geneva. Bonnie has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Psychology as well as a Masters in Psychology from the College of New Rochelle.
Aimee Kaye, President
Aimee Kaye is a Co-Founder and President of Actuarial Careers, Inc.®. Aimee has successfully placed close to 1000 actuaries since 1986, specializing in the senior marketplace. She has successfully placed actuaries of all levels including Fellows of the Society of Actuaries, Chief Actuaries, CFOs, and company presidents. Aimee has been a featured speaker at both regional and national actuarial conferences and is considered to be a leading authority within the actuarial recruiting industry, as well as one of the top recruiters in the field. She is the author of numerous articles pertaining to the advancement of the actuarial profession and interviewing techniques. Aimee directs the recruiting team of the company and has personally and individually trained every member of the company’s recruiting staff. Prior to becoming an actuarial recruiter, Aimee was a Vice President of nationally recognized public relations organizations and was a national spokeswoman for many different product lines. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and has earned a Masters Degree from New York University.
Claudine Cox, Executive Vice President
Claudine Cox has been recruiting actuaries on a global scale since 2002. From Amsterdam to Albuquerque, no job is too distant. Over the years, Claudine has had experience with all levels of actuaries from college graduates to Chief Risk Officers and Chief Actuaries. She brings with her an in depth knowledge of insurance companies and the many products they produce and sell. Her knowledge of the international market has also made her proficient in handling relocation opportunities throughout the world. Claudine is one of the top recruiters at Actuarial Careers, Inc.® and has been successful because of her true commitment to her profession. She develops strong working relationships with both candidates and clients through excellent interpersonal skills, work ethic and knowledge of the actuarial profession. Her success in placing candidates and filling roles is evidenced by her repeat business and the referrals she receives. Within the profession, Claudine is recognized as one of our top recruiters. In the office, she is a true leader and mentor to our junior recruiters, and assists Aimee Kaye in their training. Her successes led to her promotion to Vice President in 2005, and to Senior Vice president in 2007. Before joining Actuarial Careers, Inc.®, Claudine was a production coordinator for Dateline NBC and has many well known projects to her credit. She is an accomplished equestrian and a grad of St. Thomas Aquinas College with a Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts.
Jesse West, Executive Vice President
Jesse West is an Executive Vice President at Actuarial Careers, Inc.®. During his tenure at Actuarial Careers, Jesse has successfully placed Actuaries at all levels in traditional and non traditional positions both in the United States and Internationally. He prides himself on his ability to think “outside the box” in assisting candidates pursue career opportunities, as well as prepare for the challenging interview process. Jesse has strong experience creating job descriptions, interviewing prospective candidates, hiring and ultimately managing the human resource process. His previous work experience has been in the Food industry, as Operations Manager, Merchandising/Sales Director, and his last position, president of a mid-size food manufacturing operation. Jesse graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with a BS degree in Accounting.
Barbara Roman, Senior Vice President
Barbara Roman has been with Actuarial Careers, Inc. since 1998. A dedicated and highly skilled recruiter, Barbara helped launch our company brand throughout the actuarial community and has consistently been one of the top performers in the company. Barbara has successfully placed actuaries on all levels, predominantly specializing in the FSA market. Her commitment to excellence is continually demonstrated by her knowledge of the needs of both client and candidate insuring good matches, working in a timely manner and communicating information accurately. This philosophy together with her negotiation skills, contribute to her success as a top producer in our company, and a highly skilled actuarial recruiter. She was quickly promoted to the title of Vice President before her maternity leave and has rejoined the company in the beginning of 2009. Barbara graduated from Rutgers University School of Business and has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Robyn Taylor, Senior Vice President
Robyn Taylor is a Senior Vice President working with our Property and Casualty candidates and clients. She places candidates at all levels, from students through Chief Actuaries. Robyn has 20 years experience working in both insurance and recruiting. She began her career in human resources after graduating with a Bachelors Degree from Brandeis University. She has earned a Masters Degree from the same university in Management of Human Services concentrating in employee benefits. After working in human resources and recruiting in the entertainment and business information specialties, Robyn moved into insurance agency management. During that time, she became a licensed life and health agent. She joins her expertise in both recruiting and insurance as a Property and Casualty recruiting specialist for the company.
Stephen Frost, Director of Research
Steve Frost joined Actuarial Careers, Inc.® in 2014 as the Director of Research. His primary responsibility is to secure, manage, and maintain the accuracy of our state-of-the-art proprietary database. This includes cataloguing the individual actuaries, their history, specializations, and experience, as well as the actuarial positions with their unique requirements from our client companies. Steve graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Prior to joining Actuarial Careers, Steve worked for a manufacturing operation where his responsibilities included building an Inventory database. His experience in using various data sets in order to create real world results has proven extremely useful in his current task.
Patty Kent, Executive Vice President
Patty Kent is Executive Vice-President of Actuarial Careers, Inc.® Patty joined the staff at Actuarial Careers in 1999 and has more than 10 years of progressive experience as an executive recruiter specializing in the placement of actuaries in insurance, consulting and investment environments. In her tenure with Actuarial Careers, Inc.® she has developed an exceptionally strong track record placing ASA’s and FSA’s in positions with top companies both in the United States and abroad. Patty is a graduate of The State University of New York, College at Oswego with a degree in Communication Studies, and prior to joining Actuarial Careers, Inc.®, she spent several years teaching children with learning disabilities and pursuing her Masters Degree in Special Education. She left the education field to assist in her family’s business and eventually became Chief Operating Officer overseeing operations in three states and a staff of over 100. Patty has put her strong organizational and communication skills to work in the full cycle of the recruiting process, including candidate development, industry research, negotiating and networking, in addition to developing and maintaining strong working relationships with client companies, hiring managers and human resource staff. Her top level skills have made her one of the industry’s top recruiters.
Ted Jackness, CEO
Ted Jackness is a Co-Founder of Actuarial Careers, Inc.® and Chief Executive Officer of the company. His Responsibilities include directing the business and administrative operations of the firm, as well as its marketing and advanced technologies efforts. Prior to forming Actuarial Careers, Inc.® with Aimee Kaye, he was Executive Vice President of a national real estate organization and has achieved the Professional Designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), the commercial real estate industry’s most prestigious designation. He is a graduate of New York University Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management.
